We're thrilled to announce that Wellington Zoo has received a grant from the Kaupapa Hiranga Tahua Lottery Significant Project Funds of $811,702 to go towards the construction of our Snow Leopard habitat and visitor experience.
Snow Leopards are considered vulnerable to extinction, with only an estimated 3,500-7,500 left in the wild. We're partnering with a Nepali conservation group, called Mountain Spirit , to create a visitor experience that will allow visitors to connect with and learn about the threats Snow Leopards, and other species, face due to climate change.
