As part of our ongoing commitment to working together for Wellington’s wildlife, the Zoo formalised their partnership with ZEALANDIA with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations on Friday 9 August.

Wellington Zoo and ZEALANDIA have had a fantastic working relationship over the past twenty years and we are thrilled to cement and celebrate our partnership. We have collaborated with ZEALANDIA on numerous projects and events, such as Open Weekend, that support both the Wellington community and our environment. This agreement sets the foundation for future collaborations and we're looking forward to continuing to work together.
We will continue our collaboration with a focus on community, accessibility and local conservation. With the signing of the MoU, the Zoo will continue to treat native wildlife patients from ZEALANDIA at The Nest Te Kōhanga. The Zoo will also offer support for veterinary health checks and wildlife disease screenings on-site at ZEALANDIA. Additionally, we will both look at identifying possibilities for joint research projects, funding opportunities and further professional advice and support.
Paul Atkins, Chief Executive of ZEALANDIA signed the MoU on behalf of ZEALANDIA last Friday and was looking forward to working with the Zoo in the near future. “I am delighted to have signed this MoU which underscores the importance of our relationship with the Zoo and the value we are adding, together, to our city. ZEALANDIA has worked closely with the Zoo over many years and we continue to strengthen all aspects of the relationship, ranging from animal welfare through to joint projects in conservation and visitor engagement.”
