Every year the Zoo works with the Wellington City Council to invite its immediate neighbours, including Wellington City Council housing tenants, to visit the Zoo for free after hours.
This year our Neighbours’ BBQ was held on the 28 January 2016 giving the Zoo’s neighbours a great opportunity to connect with the animals that they live near,
“We love having the neighbours over and getting them involved with what’s going on in their Zoo,” says Chief Executive, Karen Fifield.
“It’s a great time for our neighbours to come and learn about the animals that they live near. The evening is always filled with fun, with a free sausage sizzle, face painting, activities for kids, and animal talks from keepers.”
Over 1,100 guests came to the Zoo’s 11th annual Neighbours’ BBQ, with over 900 ice creams and over 1,000 sausages served throughout the evening.
